The Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has commenced its 2026 Annual Enrolment Drive Campaign, urging parents and guardians to enrol all school-age children in public schools across the state.
The campaign was officially flagged off at the front of the Palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti by the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Femi Akinwumi. Akinwumi said the campaign was aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children and ensuring that every child in Ekiti State has access to free and compulsory basic education.
He explained that the state government, in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), had invested in classroom construction and renovation, furniture, instructional materials, digital tablets and teacher training.

According to him, such investments would only be meaningful if children were enrolled to benefit from them.He therefore urged parents to take advantage of the government’s investment in education and enrol their children in public schools.
The SUBEB chairman also disclosed that the campaign would involve house-to-house, market and community sensitisation across the state’s 16 Local Government Areas.
Education Secretaries from the 16 LGAs were presented with public-address megaphones to assist with the mobilisation campaign.
The campaign was also launched in the Ekiti North Senatorial District, where school-age children were symbolically registered at the Palace of the Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti.
The state government said the campaign is part of its efforts to tackle the out-of-school children challenge and strengthen access to basic education in Ekiti.
